Survey Question Type: Rating Scale

What it does- Survey questions of this type allow the respondent to evaluate a question in the survey based on a numeric scale or range.

When to use: Utilized during survey design, this question type is useful when trying to extract information on how respondents rate a particular issue.

Advantages: This type of question labels the anchors on both ends of the scale as well as pre-set the length of the scale (i.e. 1 to 5 or 1 to 10).

Disadvantages: This survey question should not be used when trying to extract open-ended, ranking, or multi-select information from your survey.
