Before the Survey Process Begins

Decide on the Use of Open-Ended and Close-Ended Survey Questions

Open-Ended Questions vs. Close-Ended Questions

Open-ended questions allow the survey participants to elaborate on a particular issue and offer insights on topics you may not have thought of. That having been said, it’s probably best to use a combination of the two, with most of the survey questions being close-ended.

The reason for having the majority of questions close-ended is that you can guide survey participants more to extract the information that is most important to the issues being researched.
