Advanced Survey Design: Branching (Skip-Logic)

By using the Branching feature, the Survey Administrator can enhance their survey design by routing each respondent through the survey along a path that extracts additional relevant information based on how they answered questions.

By skipping, or Branching questions, the survey respondent will only see questions that are pertinent to his/her situation, thus yielding a more focused insight.

Example:

In a customer satisfaction survey administered by an electronics retailer, if the Survey Administrator wants to know the attitudes of customers toward their favorite products, they can simply give a list of products they sell and ask which is their favorite or which are they most interested in.

Based on that answer, Branching routes respondents directly to the next question or set of questions that pertain to only that product.

This technique is becoming more widely-used in surveys, and gives Survey Administrators great flexibility in drilling-down on key areas of interest and at the same time conserving valuable space on surveys through advanced survey design.
