Advanced Survey Design: Move and Change Order/Sequence of Questions

Survey Question Placement

During the course of questionnaire creation, you have the ability to determine the placement of the question on any page.

Survey Administrators can place a question in any order among other survey questions.

Answer Sequence (Rotation)

This feature allows for the rotation of the answers corresponding to the question. Answers can be rotated, randomized or displayed in the same sequence as entered.

Using this advanced survey design feature allows the Survey Administrator to minimize two common and well-known biases that occur, where respondents choose the last or first answer from the list of answer options (referred to as recency and primacy effect, respectively).

These predispositions should be of interest to Survey Administrators during the survey design phase because they have implications on the quality of data that is received when respondents arbitrarily choose an answer option.
