Survey Design & Distribution
Survey Design
Strategic Account Managers (SAMs) will work with you to design a survey that
encompasses several important areas.
- Survey settings and how they streamline survey creation, distribution,
and reporting.
- Question types and how they guide the type of information received from
participants.
- Look and feel of your surveys and how to insert images/multimedia,
insert logos and modify spacing/borders to give your survey a branded look.
*They will also educate you on why having too much aesthetic appeal
can negatively affect response rates and data quality*
Sample Design Question
My organization really wants to get inside our customers thoughts so should we
just use open-ended (verbatim) questions in our survey? That way, respondents
can detail exactly what they are thinking and perceiving.
SAM’s Answer
While verbatim, or open-ended feedback question types are very beneficial in
getting detailed individual feedback, since there would be no answer options to
choose from that would guide the respondent’s choice, distributing a survey only
with verbatim questions would result in a less-focused response data set.
I recommend using a variety of multiple-choice, rating, and ranking question
types (e.g. radio button, drop-down, Likert Scale, etc.) for the majority of the
survey, and only one or two verbatim question types.
This mix of questions would ensure that you have data coming back on the issues
important to your organization and would yield a balance between the open-ended
and close-ended feedback, which adds more value to the reporting/analysis of the
response data.
Survey Distribution
How, when, to who, and how many times you deploy your surveys have a significant
impact on response rates and data quality. Our SAMs have the inside edge on how
to maximize these metrics and is available to our clients to ensure they do, as
well.
Sample Distribution Question
We want to personalize our survey invites with the name of the recipient of and
their company, but we’re sending out over a thousand invites. Is there a better
way to do this other than manually entering their info information inside each
invite?
SAM’s Answer
There sure is. Zarca has a Mail Merge feature that allows you to seamlessly
import the desired personal information directly into your invites. This will
save you a lot of time. While we’re at it, we should apply Zarca Touch Rules to
ensure you are only inviting individuals who have not taken one of your surveys
recently. This will increase their likelihood of participating in future surveys
and boost their response rates.
